These technologies have far-reaching capabilities (partially surpassing those of humans) and are evolving rapidly, but they also come with significant risks. Senior managers, who have built their \ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc31\ud835\udc29\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc1e and associated \ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc2e\ud835\udc2c over the years, are expected to understand these technologies, yet they have limited time to do so, and the risks of failure are high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/wsw-int.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/generated_00.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-187\" srcset=\"https:\/\/multai.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/generated_00.png 1024w, https:\/\/multai.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/generated_00-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/multai.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/generated_00-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/multai.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/generated_00-768x768.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One <a href=\"https:\/\/multai.eu\/three-ways-to-not-implement-genai\/\">strategy<\/a> is for senior managers to \ud835\udc25\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc27 \ud835\udc1f\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc26 \ud835\udc23\ud835\udc2e\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc2b \ud835\udc29\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc1f\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc25\ud835\udc2c. However, a Harvard Business School <a href=\"https:\/\/papers.ssrn.com\/sol3\/papers.cfm?abstract_id=4857373\">study <\/a>experimented with 78 junior consultants from BCG to evaluate this approach. The juniors, who had limited experience with generative AI outside of the work setting, were asked to solve a business problem using GPT-4 and then suggest tactics to educate their seniors. The study found that the \ud835\udc23\ud835\udc2e\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc2c&#8217; \ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc2c \ud835\udc1f\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc25\ud835\udc25 \ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc21\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc2d \ud835\udc22\ud835\udc27 \ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc21\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc1e \ud835\udc24\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc32 \ud835\udc30\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc32\ud835\udc2c:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The juniors \ud835\udc25\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc24\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc1d \ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc2e\ud835\udc1f\ud835\udc1f\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc2d \ud835\udc2e\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc1d\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc1d\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc20 of how to mitigate the three key risks associated with generative AI: accuracy, explainability, and contextualization (taking into account context).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They \ud835\udc28\ud835\udc2f\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc26\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc1d \ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc21\ud835\udc1e \ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc1f\ud835\udc1f\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc2f\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc2c \ud835\udc28\ud835\udc1f \ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc21\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc20\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc20 \ud835\udc21\ud835\udc2e\ud835\udc26\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc27 \ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc2e\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2c (e.g., improved prompting, training users to validate results, etc.) and underestimated the potential of system design changes (e.g., automatic monitoring, fine-tuning, RAG for context, hard-coded restrictions, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Their risk mitigation tactics were \ud835\udc1f\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc2e\ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc1d \ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc2d \ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc21\ud835\udc1e \ud835\udc29\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc23\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc2d \ud835\udc25\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2f\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc25 (where they work), missing the bigger picture involving broader frameworks, promoting communication, prompt libraries, audit tools, evaluation metrics, user interfaces, task allocation (between humans and AI systems), updated training data, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The study implies that senior managers have limited options: they must either engage real experts or allocate time to gain personal experience with emerging technologies, despite the risks.
